An early September evening & again a delight to see so many members attending our meeting, and a warm welcome by our President to 11 visitors.
One of the tasks set during the previous month was to re-arrange our storage facility & remove any excess items. This has now been completed & during the clear-out a number of WI printed cups & saucers were found. These will be available at the next meeting for any members wishing to acquire them.
A Hartford WI recipe book is to be printed collated from members favourite recipes. All members were encouraged to participate, with the Art Group providing artwork for the book.
Following our successful summer show & subsequent show at Arley, it was fantastic to see Hartford WI had two articles published in the Cheshire News.
Ladies from Hartford WI have again been invited this year to assist with the refreshments at the Hartford Village Xmas light switch-on.
This month our speaker was Melanie Latham, proprietor of Holly Cottage Preserves. Mel’s talk was entitled “Chutney & Cheer” & she certainly provided both. A highly entertaining talk on both her life, the founding of Holly Cottage Preserves & events & people she had encountered along the way.
Mel also provided a demonstration on how to make beetroot, orange & ginger chutney & the best method for preservation. She finished the evening by providing an array of hand made traditional & unusual preserves & explaining which chutneys would be suitable partners for various foods, all for ladies to purchase & sample at their leisure.
