It was a delight to see so many members again this month & after the Presidents welcome our Secretary requested members vote on two topics, the outcomes of which will be forwarded to the NFWI annual meeting.
- Proposed changes to the Articles of Association (previously summarised by the Secretary) – vote unanimously carried
- Resolution – “Bystanders can be Lifesavers” – unanimously carried
Our speaker for this month was a parishioner from St Johns Church, Sandiway who outlined their aim to to attain “Eco Church” recognition. She outlined the action members of the church were taking to promote sustainable living & what the community group were doing collectively to attain eco recognition. It was pleasing to note the church had already achieved silver & bronze status & were actively working towards the gold award.
Following with the theme of sustainability & recycling our Treasurer outlined her role with Hartford Allotment Association & the ways allotment holders are actively trying to reduce their carbon footprint.
A member who volunteers at St Luke’s Hospice shop gave details about donations & also about recycling medication blister packs & spectacles.
The Great Big Green Week takes place 7th – 15th June 2025 & Hartford WI are actively working towards achieving a “green dot” for CFWI’s green dot week.
Bursaries were awarded at the meeting with three lucky ladies receiving a £100 bursary each to learn a new skill or enhance their education.
